The main materials used in the production of membrane switches are PC, PET, and PVC. The adhesive layer, isolation layer, and mask adhesive are made of double-sided adhesive, also known as sandwich button trigger principle. When the mask is not pressed, the isolation layer separates the upper and lower lines. However, when the mask is pressed, the upper line is pressed together and overlaps with the lower line, allowing the circuit to be completed. This sends a signal to the external connection instrument (substrate) to perform its intended function. Before mounting, the surface of the substrate must be smooth, rust-free, and cleaned with alcohol or gasoline.

The membrane switch has a lifespan of more than 10,000 times. The switch's action is achieved solely through the vertical movement of the elastic film. Although the elastic film undergoes millions of cycles of creep, the amplitude of the creep is minimal, ranging from only 0.1-0.3MM. In addition, the careful selection of materials ensures that the membrane material can withstand over a million cycles without deformation.
